Byeongcheol Lee, Geochang County Deputy Governor, Conducts On-Site Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities Amid Cold Wave

On-site Inspections by Sector
to Prevent Casualties and Property Damage

On the 13th, Lee Byung-cheol, Deputy Governor of Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, along with officials responsible for winter natural disaster measures, announced that they visited the cold wave shelter in Songjeong Village, Geochang-eup, and the horticultural farm Bongnongwon to inspect the response measures for heavy snow and cold wave following the issuance of a cold wave advisory.


In response to the cold wave advisory, the county activated an initial cold wave response team and held a situation assessment meeting to decide on field inspections by sector to prevent casualties and property damage.

Accordingly, to protect vulnerable groups from the cold wave, they inspected the operation status of the cold wave shelter at the Songjeong Village Hall and visited the Wibong Farm to check the condition of the facilities for agricultural field inspections.


Deputy Governor Lee met with village residents and elderly people at the Songjeong Village Hall to check the operation status of the cold wave shelter and cold wave protection measures. He then visited Bongnongwon Farm with officials from the Agricultural Technology Center to inspect the facilities and crop growth conditions.


In particular, they checked the heating status of the greenhouse and emergency measures for power outage preparedness, and provided farmers with guidelines for managing crops against the cold wave.


Deputy Governor Lee emphasized, “It is important to minimize cold wave damage through thorough prior preparation,” and urged, “Please make every effort to prevent damage to crops and greenhouses, such as strengthening internal insulation of the houses.”


Meanwhile, Geochang-gun is currently operating the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for cold wave preparedness and maintaining an emergency duty system. They are continuously inspecting cold wave mitigation facilities such as cold wave shelters and heated chairs, focusing on proactive measures to prevent damage to crops and greenhouses.
