Samsung's 'Convenience' vs Hyundai's 'Rest'... Final Specialized Design Competition in Hannam 4 District

On the 18th, ahead of the selection of the construction company for Hannam 4 District in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction are engaged in a final showdown by each promoting specialized designs for the 'underground' and 'rooftop' spaces, respectively.

According to industry sources on the 13th, Samsung C&T presented a specialized design maximizing the use of underground space to the Hannam 4 District union members, while Hyundai Engineering & Construction proposed a sky community.

The specialized underground space design proposed by Samsung C&T includes ▲Driving Lounge ▲Signature Lobby. The Driving Lounge, located on the left side of the parking lot, is designed as a turnaround space with natural lighting, moving beyond a simple underground parking lot, and includes a drop-open zone tailored for welcoming guests or for children's commuting.

The Signature Lobby, located on the right side of the parking lot, is planned as a connected space including private storage, delivery and courier parking, and a recycling storage area. Additionally, maintenance, charging, and car wash convenience facilities will be planned to accommodate various personal mobility devices such as camping cars, electric vehicles, and electric bicycles. Furthermore, an artificial intelligence (AI) system will be introduced to analyze residents' parking patterns and guide vehicles to their preferred parking zones.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction proposed a 'Sky Community' featuring a 300-meter double sky bridge and an infinity pool. They announced plans to place sky communities in all blocks. The high floors will be equipped with swimming pools, fitness clubs, and spas, allowing residents to exercise and relax while overlooking the Han River.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction plans to build a sky bridge connecting buildings in Block 30, located along the Han River, and create an infinity pool there. Underground, a 630-pyeong (approximately 2,200 square meters) water park with a pool exclusively for infants and water play facilities will be established. Another sky bridge (Block 34) will feature spaces for water sports, Pilates, and spas, while the ground level will have areas for rehabilitation and fitness.

In addition, community spaces with different functions such as a sky bar (Block 31) and a sky restaurant (Block 32) are planned.

Meanwhile, Hannam 4 District is a redevelopment project of the Bogwang-dong area in Yongsan-gu, aiming to build an apartment complex with a total of 2,331 households. The project cost proposed by the union amounts to 1.5723 trillion KRW, making it a large-scale project. Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction, both competing in this project, are fiercely competing by offering unprecedented benefits ranging from construction costs to financial support and design. The construction company will be selected at the union members' general meeting on the 18th.
