Extension of Vaccination Period for Vulnerable Groups, On-site Vaccination Support for High-Risk Facilities
Vaccination Urged for Seniors Aged 65 and Over, Children, and Pregnant Women
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon Proposes Expanded Influenza Support for Daycare and Meal Service Teachers
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) recently urged residents to adhere to respiratory disease prevention guidelines and to expedite vaccination as suspected influenza cases surge nationwide.
In particular, high-risk groups vulnerable to infection, such as seniors aged 65 and over, children, and pregnant women, are recommended to receive vaccinations as soon as possible.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the incidence rate of suspected influenza cases has steadily increased over the past four weeks, reaching the highest level in eight years since 2016, and an epidemic advisory has been issued.
The district is conducting national vaccination for high-risk groups until April 30, maintaining a vaccination rate above the national average.
Vaccinations are available at 119 designated medical institutions and public health centers within Geumcheon-gu, and information on vaccination sites can be found on the Vaccination Helper website.
The district also supports on-site vaccinations for infection-vulnerable facilities. When requests for vaccination are received from communal living homes, nursing homes, and similar facilities, the visiting vaccination team directly visits the site to provide vaccinations. The visiting team consists of medical staff, nurses, and administrative personnel, operating safely to prevent the spread of infection.
Additionally, following the end of the vaccination period for vulnerable groups, additional vaccinations for severely disabled persons aged 64 and under (grades 1 to 3), national merit recipients, and medical aid beneficiaries are supported at public health centers and branch health clinics. The period is from January 13 to January 31, and vaccinations can be received at the desired location after prior reservation.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “The district is actively responding to prevent the spread of influenza,” adding, “Following prevention guidelines and getting vaccinated are the most reliable ways for residents to protect themselves, so I hope everyone takes interest and participates.”
The Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center emphasized strict adherence to personal hygiene rules such as proper handwashing, observing cough etiquette, wearing masks, and regular ventilation, especially urging high-risk groups to complete vaccination as soon as possible to reduce infection risk.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon proposed policies to Seoul City to expand vaccination support for childcare teachers and meal service teachers in daycare centers, who are at high risk of infection transmission, and plans to continuously implement various measures to protect residents’ health.
