Gwangjin-gu to Provide 'First Birthday Celebration Fund' Starting This Year for Newborns... 1st to 3rd Child 1 Million KRW, 4th Child 2 Million KRW, 5th and Beyond 3 Million KRW Support Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin District

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has changed the name of the childbirth congratulatory fund to 'First Birthday Congratulatory Fund' starting this year.

The childbirth congratulatory fund was a support payment given to families who have given birth and have lived in Gwangjin-gu for more than one year. The district revised the 'Ordinance on Support for Childbirth, Childcare, and Multi-Child Families in Gwangjin-gu,' and from January 1 of this year, newborns will receive the First Birthday Congratulatory Fund.

Families receive 1 million KRW for the first, second, and third child, 2 million KRW for the fourth child, and 3 million KRW from the fifth child onward. The congratulatory fund is paid in Gwangjin Love Gift Certificates.

The eligible recipients are guardians who have their resident registration in Gwangjin-gu and have continuously lived there from the child's birth date until the support date. Applications must be made by visiting the local community service center within six months after one year from the child's birth date.

Families with children born in 2024 who have not applied for the support fund can receive it retroactively as the childbirth congratulatory fund. For more details, please contact the Family Welfare Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "I hope the First Birthday Support Fund will be a practical help to families raising children," and added, "We will continue to develop and support various policies that can alleviate the burden of childcare for families."
