Mayor Yu Announces "Geumcheon’s Next 30 Years"
30th Anniversary New Year's Meeting Held
Event Shines with Attendance of About 600 Residents
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it successfully concluded the '2025 New Year's Meeting' held at Geumnarae Art Hall on January 10th, marking the 30th anniversary of its establishment.
At the event, Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, gave a presentation under the theme "Geumcheon’s Next 30 Years, A New Leap."
He proposed three major leaps: ▲Advancing as one of Seoul's four major economic hub cities ▲Becoming a gateway city to the metropolitan area ▲Transforming into a people-centered community city, and announced nine strategic tasks to realize these goals.
In his presentation, Mayor Yu said, “We will strengthen the competitiveness of G-Valley to become a hub for advanced industries, and through the complex development of the Air Force base site, create a self-sufficient city harmonizing work, residence, and leisure linked with G-Valley.” He added, “We will enhance the role as a gateway to the metropolitan area by expanding the metropolitan transportation network, including the opening of the Shinansan Line and the inclusion of the GTX-D line, as well as developing the Seoksu Station area.”
He continued, “By expanding education and welfare infrastructure and building a general hospital, we will improve the quality of life for residents and make the city a place where everyone wants to stay longer,” emphasizing the commitment to realizing a people-centered community city.
The New Year's Meeting was filled with about 600 attendees, including Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, National Assembly member Choi Ki-sang, Geumcheon-gu Council Chairman Lee In-sik, and various figures from different sectors as well as Geumcheon-gu residents.
The event proceeded with ▲a 30th anniversary planning video screening ▲the mayor’s strategic presentation ▲New Year's greetings and deep bows from key guests ▲celebratory performances. The commemorative video, featuring vivid interviews with residents, showcased the changes and achievements of Geumcheon-gu and received great acclaim.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon stated, “To ensure the execution of the three major leaps and nine strategic tasks, we have been operating seven TF teams since the beginning of the year,” adding, “We will gather expert advice and residents’ opinions and announce 30 practical tasks on Residents' Day, October 15th.”
