As a series of large wildfires broke out in Los Angeles (LA), the largest city in the western United States, it was revealed that Chan-ho Park, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB), was also affected.

According to reports from MBN and Chosun Ilbo on the 10th, Park Chan-ho's wife and family are currently staying at a nearby hotel after their residence in Beverly Hills, western US, was burned down. A close acquaintance of Park Chan-ho told Chosun Ilbo, "Park Chan-ho is currently staying in Korea," adding, "Baseball-related memorabilia have already been moved to Korea, so there is no problem. He plans to check the site later and if the house is completely destroyed, he intends to rebuild it."

Park Chan-ho joined the LA Dodgers in 1994 and played until 2001. In 1999, he purchased a two-story large mansion located in Beverly Hills, an upscale residential area in the western US. He later attracted attention by revealing the mansion through broadcasts.

Meanwhile, foreign media reported that on the morning of the 8th (local time), wildfires broke out in the Pacific Palisades area, an affluent coastal neighborhood in western LA, followed by Eaton, Hearst, and Woodley. Additional fires were reported in Olivas, Lydia, and Hollywood Hills, with seven large wildfires spreading simultaneously. In particular, the Palisades wildfire continues to spread, causing significant difficulties in firefighting and response efforts. As of the afternoon of the 9th, the wildfire had consumed an area of 202 square kilometers, about 70 times the size of Yeouido (2.9 km²), burning at least 1,000 buildings and displacing approximately 150,000 people. Authorities issued evacuation orders to about 180,000 people due to concerns over fire spread and smoke inhalation. Since damage assessments are still in the early stages, the number of casualties and the scale of property damage are expected to increase over time.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that many celebrities, not just Park Chan-ho, suffered losses from the wildfires. The Associated Press reported that actors such as Mark Hamill, who played the lead role in the "Star Wars" series, James Woods, Mandy Moore, Carrie Elwes, and Paris Hilton lost their homes to the fires. Currently, various events including Hollywood award ceremonies and movie premieres have been postponed or canceled, and the announcement of the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards, originally scheduled for the 17th, has been postponed to the 19th.
