Laying the Foundation to Overcome Low Birthrates and Create a Childbirth-Friendly Environment
Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongbuk is making every effort to overcome the crisis of the population cliff and population decline and to create a 'child-friendly city Cheongdo.'
On the 10th, Cheongdo-gun announced that it will provide postpartum care expenses to mothers who gave birth after midnight on the 1st of this month to reduce economic burdens, promote the health of mothers and newborns, and contribute to creating a stable childbirth environment.
Cheongdo-gun is a low birthrate, population extinction, and delivery-vulnerable area, and when a newborn is registered in the county, postpartum care expenses of up to 1 million won per mother will be supported regardless of income.
Costs incurred from using hospitals and clinics (including Korean medicine hospitals and clinics), pharmacies, postpartum care centers, and visiting postpartum care services related to childbirth and postpartum care can be applied for at the public health center within 12 months after childbirth.
In addition, various pregnancy and childbirth support projects such as medical expense support for mothers aged 35 and over, provision of birth celebration boxes, and support for male infertility treatment expenses will be expanded and operated.
Kim Hasu, the head of Cheongdo-gun, said, “We will take the lead in establishing a foundation to overcome low birthrates and creating a childbirth-friendly environment, and by implementing various pregnancy and childbirth support projects, we will strive even harder to make Cheongdo-gun a happy place where it is good to have and raise children.”
