About 200 people attended the briefing session, including local city and provincial council members, fisheries cooperative heads, fishing vessel fishermen, aquaculture fishermen, and seafood processors. The session provided an explanation of the implementation plans for major policies and offered time to exchange various opinions on pressing local issues.

The city plans to invest 27 billion KRW this year to promote 83 projects in the marine and fisheries sector aimed at "2025 Fisheries Rebound and Establishment of a Sustainable Fisheries Foundation."

Key projects include ▲ systematic support for fishing activities to help fishermen overcome management crises ▲ expansion of aquaculture infrastructure and creation of aquaculture-specialized agro-industrial complexes ▲ transition in fisheries resource management methods and restoration of fisheries resource habitats ▲ realization of creative fisheries through promotion of seafood consumption and establishment of smart distribution networks ▲ multipurpose administrative vessel Yeonoseo fishing promotion and fishery guidance activities.

The fishermen attending the session expressed gratitude for the implementation of new projects such as the seafood auction commission fee support project, which directly helps fishermen facing difficulties due to the recent rapid decline in fisheries resources, and requested the active promotion of fisheries development projects this year as well.

Son Jeong-ho, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau, said, "Last year, local fishermen faced many difficulties due to the rapid decline in fisheries resources, abnormal weather, and rising prices of goods, labor, raw materials, and fuel. We will do our best to promptly and efficiently execute the fisheries budget and provide systematic support for fishery management to boost the fisheries economy and increase fishermen's income."

Pohang City established the Marine and Fisheries Bureau last year and allocated 81.2 billion KRW, an increase of 31.6 billion KRW (64%) compared to the previous year, for fisheries, fishing villages, marine industries, and port sectors, aiming to leap forward as a "Global Marine Hub City Expanding Its Sea Territory."
