Strategic Planning Special Committee: "Support Rate Rises Due to Side Benefits... Not Satisfied"

"Internal pus? Not referring to any specific individual"
Special Committee to Hold Second Meeting Next Friday

The People Power Party's Special Committee on Strategic Planning held its first meeting on the 10th and shared the recognition that they should not be satisfied with the party's approval ratings rising due to reflected benefits, but rather that a cool-headed effort for self-strengthening is necessary.

After the meeting, Jo Jeong-hoon, the chairman of the Strategic Planning Special Committee, told reporters, "In some polls, our party's approval ratings are rising, but this increase is largely of a reflected benefit nature," adding, "We agreed to analyze our current position objectively through polls and big data and to strive to build a party capable of self-strengthening."

When asked for a detailed explanation about the reflected benefits, Jo said, "There was no specific statement, but it likely means that we are not at all in a situation to be satisfied with the approval rating increase of a reflected benefit nature, and that there are many areas we ourselves need to improve."

Regarding Jo's earlier remark in the meeting that "Though painful, we must squeeze out the internal pus," he responded, "There may be misunderstandings. I am absolutely not referring to any specific individual."

He further explained, "Looking at the long term, due to two consecutive general election defeats, it seems important how our party structurally improves its weaknesses," and added, "In that process, we should no longer just listen with one ear and ignore the voices from the regions that pointed out the absence of concrete strategies and tactics to gain support from and expand our core base."

Additionally, Jo emphasized, "Companies speak through sales, and political parties speak through the support they receive from the people," and said, "We will work hard to present a future vision and concrete policy alternatives to expand the party's outreach ourselves." The Strategic Planning Special Committee will hold its second meeting on the 17th.
