995 Types Including Livestock Products, Eggs, and Fresh Produce
Supplied by 350 Local Farms
Jinan County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 10th that Jinan Local Food surpassed a cumulative sales of 40 billion KRW in just six years since its opening.
Jinan Local Food was established to increase farmers' income and provide safe food, and it has been drawing attention for its steady growth and stable business expansion.
Jinan Local Food, which opened in Hoseong-dong, Jeonju in January 2019, recorded sales of 3 billion KRW in its first year.
Sales have continued to grow, reaching 6 billion KRW in 2020, 7 billion KRW in 2021, 7.2 billion KRW in 2022, 7.8 billion KRW in 2023, and 8.6 billion KRW in 2024.

Approximately 90% of Jinan Local Food's sales are returned as income to local farms, providing a solid support for farmers' income stability.
There are 995 types of products displayed at Jinan Local Food, including livestock products, eggs, grains, and fresh produce, supplied by about 350 farms.
Among these, the main driver of sales at the Jinan Local Food direct store is high-quality livestock products raised in the clean Jinan Highlands, accounting for 50% of total sales. By sourcing directly from local livestock farms without intermediary distribution margins, it attracts consumers with reasonable prices.
Fermented products such as soybean paste and Cheonggukjang made from local soybeans, as well as seasonal vegetables like onions, green onions, and carrots, also contribute to sales.
The biggest secret behind the continued growth of local food is the strong trust relationship built with consumers. The "1,000 KRW Lettuce" initiative, which started in 2022, is a representative example.
At Jinan Local Food, even during the rainy season or heat waves when supply shortages and price surges occur, the same quantity of lettuce has been sold at the fixed price of 1,000 KRW.
The county plans to further strengthen its competitiveness by expanding its business in line with the stable growth of local food.
First, the Jinan branch, which opened last September to provide fresh local food to Jinan residents, has quickly established itself with cumulative sales of 600 million KRW and 18,000 customers.
In addition, the Jinan branch, in cooperation with the Jeonju Hoseong branch, serves as a key hub for the distribution of local agricultural products, contributing to regional economic revitalization and increased farm income.
To ensure stable operation of the Jeonju Hoseong branch, which is currently leased in a private building, the county plans to relocate it through a two-year project.
The new construction and relocation project for the Hoseong branch, with a total project cost of 11.7 billion KRW, completed land acquisition by February this year, and plans to finish the design by October and complete construction next year.
County Governor Jeon Choonseong said, "Operating local food stores greatly helps promote excellent agricultural and specialty products from the Jinan Highlands and revitalize the local economy," adding, "We hope to smoothly proceed with the new construction and relocation of the Jeonju Hoseong branch, increase customer satisfaction for those visiting Jinan Local Food, and enable local farms to generate stable income."
