The First Step Foundation Project aims to strengthen the basic capabilities of traditional markets by providing up to 300 million KRW in funding over one year to help them advance as specialized markets. Accordingly, Seorak Nunmegol Market plans to carry out various activities to create a "market people want to visit again," including producing goblin signboards, expanding Onnuri gift certificates, improving hygiene and cleanliness, promoting camping experiences, providing SNS marketing education, and installing alleyway lighting.

Since being registered as a traditional market in 2020, Seorak Nunmegol Market has been selected for various projects such as the Gyeonggi Shared Market (2021), Gyeonggi-type Innovation Market (2022), and Digital Traditional Market Development Project (2023?2024).

Gapyeong Jatgoeul Market, selected for the Market Management Package Support Project, plans to continue its growth as a sustainable tourism-oriented market by operating experience programs, creating a pop-up playground, and hosting performances, following the successful completion of the 2023?2024 Cultural Tourism Market Development Project.

Meanwhile, separate from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups projects, all four traditional markets in Gapyeong-gun have been selected for the Gyeonggi Province-led Traditional Market Manager Development Project. Through this, the four traditional markets will hire professional personnel to strengthen merchant organization capabilities and accelerate the implementation of various support projects.

Governor Seo Tae-won said, “With two traditional markets selected in this Ministry of SMEs and Startups public contest, a foundation has been laid to revitalize traditional markets struggling due to the economic downturn and reduced consumption. We have high expectations as all four traditional markets in the jurisdiction have been consistently selected for various support projects, and the county will take the lead in revitalizing the local commercial district through active support.”
