Connecting Riverside Walkways Disrupted by Hindu Shrine Installations

The "Geumchoncheon Stream Walkway Construction Project" is a project to connect the previously disconnected riverside walkways from the Geumchon area (Geumchon 1 and 3-dong) to Gongneungcheon. With the newly constructed walkway, a pleasant waterfront space is now provided for local residents.

This project was carried out step-by-step according to the main construction phases by area, and it is evaluated as a successful case that ensured efficient project progress and met the expectations of local residents.

Since construction began in 2023, the walkway was built progressively according to the main construction phases by area. First, in Section 1, from Sundalgyo Bridge to Gongneungcheon, the embankment ridge was paved and connecting paths were installed to create the walkway. Next, in Section 2, a pedestrian bridge was installed over Sapgyocheon, resolving the inconvenience of having to take a detour. Additionally, in Section 3, a walkway was constructed under Sapgyocheon, connecting the previously disconnected riverside walkway after Gongneung Yongchi Walkway.

As a result, residents can now enjoy leisure activities in a safer and more convenient environment, and with Geumchoncheon and Gongneungcheon connected as one, it is expected to contribute to regional revitalization.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City stated, "This project has become an important stepping stone for Paju City to leap forward as a waterfront city," and added, "We will continue to offer citizens greater everyday relaxation through differentiated waterfront cultural spaces."
