YouTuber Woo Eun-bin (Woo Jaga), a former flight attendant who lost about half of her head in an unexpected accident, appeared on a terrestrial broadcast to deliver a message of hope.

On the 9th, the KBS1 program 'Morning Yard' held a talk under the theme 'People Finding Hope.' The guest that day was Woo, who underwent craniotomy about a year ago due to an accident. Craniotomy is a surgery performed by cutting open the skull to expose the brain.

Woo introduced herself as "Woo Eun-bin, who worked as a flight attendant, bank clerk, writer, and lecturer," and said, "The biggest crisis in my life has passed. Please look forward to how I overcome difficulties and deliver hopeful stories."

Woo is a veteran flight attendant who worked for nearly 10 years at Japanese and Korean airlines. When overseas travel demand sharply declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, she quit being a flight attendant and instead pursued a new career as a writer and creator by giving lectures on writing and employment at high schools and universities.

However, on January 27 last year, she suffered a terrible accident. While moving to attend a lecture for prospective flight attendants, she fell backward on a sidewalk block, sustaining severe injuries to her waist and head. As a result of this accident, Woo was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage, brain edema, and spinal fracture, and underwent surgery to remove about 40% of the left side of her skull. During the craniotomy, medical staff also reported that about 95% of her left brain was damaged.

Woo said, "Before the surgery, the doctor told me the chance of survival was 20 to 30%," and added, "Due to various disabilities, it would be difficult to live a normal life as a woman in her 30s. My family just prayed, hoping I would wake up."

She continued, "When I first opened my eyes after the surgery, I couldn't understand the situation. I couldn't look in the mirror, so I didn't even know I was injured. I couldn't recognize my husband and called him 'oppa' (older brother) even though he is younger than me," she recalled.

Woo still suffers from aftereffects such as aphasia. However, during the broadcast, she spoke calmly. Woo emphasized, "Even though I am an aphasia patient, I am living cheerfully. People around me support me, saying they are curious about how I overcame it," and added, "By honestly revealing my own vulnerability and fear, people are deeply moved and cheer me on."
