Jungnang-gu Successfully Holds 2025 New Year's Greeting Event at Jungnang Culture and Sports Center on the 9th at 3 PM
Presenting Jungnang-gu's Future Vision for 2025 New Year
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has completed preparations to vigorously move forward with a new leap alongside its residents as the new year of 2025, the Year of Eulsa, begins.
The '2025 New Year's Greeting Meeting' held at Jungnang Cultural and Sports Center at 3 p.m. on the 9th was successfully hosted with the attendance of over 1,200 residents.
This event was a meaningful occasion to exchange New Year's greetings with residents, communicate directly, and present the direction and vision for the district administration in 2025.
The program included a congratulatory performance, a New Year's address by Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi, New Year's wishes from key figures, viewing of residents' New Year's wish videos, and commemorative photo sessions. Notably, it forecasted a greater leap in 2025 based on the remarkable achievements of the 8th elected term last year.
Last year, the district achieved remarkable results in various fields, including ▲passing the preliminary feasibility study for the Myeonmok Line light rail ▲receiving the highest rating in the local government innovation evaluation ▲ranking first in low-rise residential housing development projects ▲achieving the highest grade for natural disaster safety evaluation for five consecutive years ▲winning the Korea ESG Comprehensive Award ▲and attaining the highest grade for pledge fulfillment evaluation for four consecutive times.
In his New Year's address, Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi emphasized that based on a budget of 1.1252 trillion won in 2025, the district will realize future visions such as 'the best educational city,' 'a revolutionary skyline transformation,' 'a proud cultural and historical city,' and 'the warmest city in Seoul' across education, culture, economy, urban development, and welfare sectors.
First, in the education sector, aiming to become 'the best educational city Jungnang,' the district will actively expand educational infrastructure. The education budget will be increased to 14 billion won, and various educational facilities such as the 2nd Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, an astronomy science center, and the Sagajeong Library will be constructed.
In urban development, the district promises to redesign Jungnang-gu’s skyline through housing development, successfully advance large-scale projects such as the construction of the GTX-B line, undergrounding of the Eastern Arterial Road, relocation of the SH Corporation, and establishment of the Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town. Given that the area and number of housing development project sites selected in public contests rank first in Seoul, the district plans to transform Jungnang-gu into the most livable city in Seoul through the 28 current housing development sites.
In the cultural sector, a 300-seat performance hall will be created at Mangwoo History and Culture Park to transform it into a cultural landmark frequently visited by residents. The 'Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,' now in its 17th year, is being developed into a festival full of rich sights and attractions, aiming to become the most beautiful festival nationwide. Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated that efforts will be made to ensure the 'Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival' becomes a sustainable local heritage lasting over 100 years.
Finally, in the welfare sector, centered on the 'Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet' launched in November last year, the district plans to strengthen a welfare platform where 400,000 residents help each other. Through this, various welfare projects such as expanding jobs for seniors and people with disabilities and supporting senior centers will be promoted to become the warmest city in Seoul.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “In the new year, we will continue the high status of Jungnang-gu, which has entered the '1 trillion won budget era,'” and added, “In 2025, we will continue to listen to residents' voices on the ground and vigorously leap forward with 400,000 Jungnang residents into a city excelling in education, culture, and economy, a warm city where children are happy and seniors are respected, and a pleasant and livable city.”
