Goheung County Steps Up to Support Livelihood Economy Amid Winter Cold Wave

100,000 Won Heating Cost Support per Low-Income Senior Citizen
300,000 Won Emergency Food Expense Support for Senior Centers

Goheung County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 9th that it will provide a total of 698 million KRW in support to low-income seniors and senior centers before the Lunar New Year holiday to help stabilize the local economy amid winter cold waves and rising energy prices.


This emergency livelihood support will provide 100,000 KRW in heating cost assistance to basic livelihood security recipients and the near-poor aged 65 and over who are struggling due to cold waves and rising energy prices from January to March. In addition, 300,000 KRW will be provided for food expenses to seniors using senior centers to ensure balanced meals.

The county plans to provide practical assistance to 4,900 low-income seniors in vulnerable groups (excluding facility residents) and a total of 654 senior centers, including 10 unregistered centers, to help stabilize the lives of seniors.


Governor Gong Youngmin said, "I hope this support for heating and food expenses will help our seniors enjoy a warm and abundant winter," adding, "We will continue to pursue welfare policies that stabilize livelihoods and can be truly felt by our residents."


Meanwhile, applications for heating cost support for low-income vulnerable seniors have been accepted at 16 towns and townships since the 7th.
