Seoul City will significantly support manpower and costs in the Hannam-dong area of Yongsan-gu, which is suffering from garbage due to continuous large-scale rallies.

On the 9th, Seoul City announced that it will deploy available resources such as 334 cleaning personnel and 58 cleaning equipment units belonging to Yongsan-gu as appropriate to the situation for the prompt disposal of garbage generated after large-scale rallies.

From 3 PM to 10 PM, outside the working hours of environmental officers, the city will provide operating expenses to add 10 members of the Clean-up Task Force. Earlier, in preparation for prolonged rallies, the city established the 'Major Downtown Large-scale Rally Venue Cleaning Plan' on the 13th of last month and has been operating a cleaning situation room.

After the large-scale rally in front of the Presidential Residence in Hannam-dong, the daily garbage collection volume in Yongsan-gu increased by about 8 tons, from an average of 593 tons to 601 tons per day. The increased garbage disposal costs will be supported to Yongsan-gu. The city also plans to support disposal costs for other autonomous districts such as Jongno-gu, where large-scale rallies occur, if necessary.

In case of prolonged rallies, the city is also considering easing the 'Household Waste Input Management System' to reduce the burden on autonomous districts. This system assigns waste reduction targets to each district, providing incentives to districts that achieve the targets and penalties to those that do not.

The city stated that it will continue to make its best efforts to prevent inconvenience to residents caused by rally crowds through continuous on-site inspections and prompt disposal.
