Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) has published and posted on the Mapo-gu website 'New Changes in Mapo in 2025' to allow residents to easily check the policies and systems newly implemented or changed this year.
'New Changes in Mapo in 2025' includes a total of 26 policies and administrative services, including 10 new projects.
This year, policies aimed at realizing Mapo-gu's welfare vision 'Silppuri Welfare,' which pursues meticulous welfare permeating the lives of all residents from children to adults, and from socially vulnerable groups to the general public, stand out.
First, by adding the 'Filial Piety Meal Side Dish Factory,' the number of users of the 'Resident Participation Filial Piety Meal' project will expand from 1,500 to 4,000.
Along with this, the 'Silppuri Welfare Center,' a unique welfare complex facility of Mapo-gu, will be expanded from the current 6 locations to all neighborhoods.
Honoring national veterans will be further strengthened. Starting this year, funeral services will be provided upon the death of national veterans to repay their honor until the end of their lives and to enhance the honor and pride of veteran families.
Also, the 'Welfare Allowance for War Veterans,' which had not been inherited by bereaved families until now, will be paid to the spouses of eligible recipients to deeply honor their dedication and efforts.
For the first time this year, Mapo-gu will introduce 'Safe Insurance for the Disabled' and 'Childcare Support Fund for Disabled Families.' Additionally, basic inspections of vehicles for the disabled will be conducted free of charge, and consumable expenses will be supported to improve mobility convenience for the disabled.
In the first half of this year, a resident convenience facility (tentative name) will open within Mapo Saebit Cultural Island. This place plans to include sports facilities and saunas to support residents' healthy lives, and on the rooftop, an observatory and an observatory deck will be established to offer a space travel experience within the city.
The 'Mapo Circular Train Bus' is also awaiting operation. The 'Mapo Circular Train Bus' is a unique tourism product of Mapo-gu that connects major tourist spots and alleyway commercial districts in Mapo. Through this, Mapo-gu plans to introduce various charms of Mapo to tourists and revitalize alleyway commercial districts by increasing domestic consumption.
In addition, changes in the selection criteria for basic livelihood benefits and housing benefits, support for youth employment preparation expenses, injury insurance support for young people in military service, energy voucher support, and health checkups for pregnancy preparation can be found on the Mapo-gu website.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We have prepared various projects this year with the happiness of Mapo residents as our top priority,” and added, “We ask for your great interest in 『New Changes in Mapo in 2025』, and we will become a Mapo-gu that brings happiness to residents through active project implementation throughout the year.”
