Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of Security, "Claims of Using North Infiltration Operatives for Insurrection Plot Are Exaggerated"

Direct Refutation of Democratic Party Lawmaker Kim Byung-joo's Claims

Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of Security, "Claims of Using North Infiltration Operatives for Insurrection Plot Are Exaggerated" Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, Yonhap News Agency

Kim Tae-hyo, the First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, on the 8th dismissed the claim made by Kim Byung-ju, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding an alleged intention to incite a rebellion using the North Infiltration Operation Unit (HID) as "an absurd leap."

Earlier, Representative Kim asserted, "Deputy Director Kim visited the North Infiltration Operation Unit (HID) in 2023, and it is highly suspicious whether this was an intention to incite a rebellion using North infiltration agents."

In response, Deputy Director Kim stated, "In early June 2023, I visited the HID unit along with intelligence officials to encourage them," adding, "However, linking a military unit encouragement visit that took place a year and seven months ago, in the year before last, to the martial law declaration on December 3rd this year is an absurd leap."

He continued, "On the day of the martial law, I neither went to the underground bunker at Gyeryongdae nor had any contact with related personnel," and rebutted, "There is ongoing slander and propaganda that forcibly tries to fit a prearranged script in an 'if not, then whatever' manner. No matter how many times it is repeated, something that did not happen cannot become something that did."
