"If Impeachment Is Upheld, the Conservative Right Must Unite" Emphasized
"Merger of People Power Party and Reform New Party Is Impossible" Also Claimed
Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, hinted that he would run for the presidency if an early presidential election is held, while Cho Won-jin, leader of the Our Republican Party, expressed the opinion that Lee would not be able to run in the early election. On the 8th, Cho appeared on YTN Radio's 'News Fighting' and said, "These days, when I see Lee's face, I keep thinking of Jeong Cheong-rae's face," adding, "He seems to be very poor at assessing the situation."

He continued, "If President Yoon Seok-yeol is arrested and the impeachment is not dismissed but results in removal from office, the presidential election will be held two months later," and pointed out, "Lee should visit Gwanghwamun and attend rallies supporting impeachment to compare both sides and then express his own thoughts." He also raised his voice, saying, "Lee says he will run, but is the environment suitable for him to run? Running for president does not require little money; who would support him? Even Representative Heo Eun-ah cannot coordinate with him now, so what meaning does it have? He is just bluffing."
Regarding the possibility of President Yoon being impeached, Cho said, "Before the presidential election, the so-called 'free right-wing' as a whole must unite," adding, "Otherwise, we cannot stop Lee Jae-myung from coming to power." When asked by the host about the extent of unification through right-wing consolidation, he replied, "Those who hold the position that Lee (Jun-seok) and others must prevent the Democratic Party from coming to power can all go together as one."
Earlier, on December 25 last year, Lee appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and hinted at a presidential bid. When asked whether he would run if the Constitutional Court ruled in favor of impeaching President Yoon Seok-yeol and an early election was held, he said, "The current situation looks like that." However, Lee flatly rejected the possibility of unification with the People Power Party candidate or a merger between the People Power Party and the Reform New Party in the event of an early election. Lee will turn 40 on March 31, making him eligible to run for president.
