This training was designed to present six emergency situations that students may actually encounter in the field, helping them develop response skills and providing opportunities to independently assess and perform patient evaluation and treatment processes. In particular, the training emphasized the importance of cooperation through team-based exercises composed of four members and allowed students to directly experience the practical roles and responsibilities of emergency medical technicians.

This training, made possible by the talent donation of Park Tae-min, an emergency medical technician at Pusan National University Hospital, involved three students including third-year prospective graduate Park So-yoon (who have obtained Level 1 Emergency Medical Technician certification) acting as patients during the practice, while Park Tae-min provided professional feedback to enhance the quality of education.

The first evaluation included assessing the patient's initial impression based on consciousness, airway, breathing, and circulation status, performing emergency treatment if necessary, and deciding whether to transport the patient to the hospital. All processes were carried out with students making their own judgments and decisions, concluding at the point of handing over the patient upon arrival at the hospital.

Nam Ye-ho, a first-year student in the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, said, “Through this training, I was able to learn the skills and judgment required in emergency situations,” adding, “Experiencing the process of evaluating and treating patients firsthand gave me an opportunity to once again realize the responsibility and mission of an emergency medical technician.”

The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology offers a practice-oriented curriculum, achieving high pass rates on national qualification exams and employment rates for its graduates, and continues to strive for ongoing development aimed at cultivating field-customized experts.
