Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province is set to actively promote the '2025 Employment Project for Persons with Disabilities'.

According to the city on the 8th, this project was launched to revitalize the local economy, expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and support their independence. This is an increase of 33 people compared to last year. The city expects that if people with disabilities establish themselves as main agents of economic activity through stable jobs, it will have a positive impact on the local economy.

Specifically, this year's employment project for people with disabilities is divided into five sectors: general jobs, welfare jobs, specialized jobs, Jeonbuk-type rights-centered public jobs, and customized jobs for low-income people with disabilities.

First, general jobs are divided into full-time (80 people) and part-time (38 people) positions, supporting public and welfare administrative work at Jeonju City Hall, Wansan and Deokjin District Offices, community centers, and other locations.

In addition, welfare jobs for 250 people are recruited at five welfare institutions, including Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Welfare Center for the Disabled and Jeonju Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled. They are assigned to social welfare centers, disability organizations, and facilities for duties such as facility management and administrative support.

Furthermore, specialized jobs include 15 visually impaired massage therapists who will work at senior centers and welfare halls, and 25 assistant caregivers with developmental disabilities who will support work at elderly welfare facilities and hospitals.

Alongside this, 52 people with the most severe disabilities will participate in Jeonbuk-type rights-centered public jobs, engaging in advocacy activities and gaining opportunities for economic participation.

Finally, customized jobs for low-income people with disabilities are managed by the Jeonju City Support Center for Employment of Persons with Disabilities, focusing on positions in culture, arts, and sports. Currently, 26 people with disabilities have been provided with jobs.

The city plans to continue its efforts to achieve two goals: recovery of the local economy through expanded employment for people with disabilities and the establishment of a sustainable economic ecosystem.

A city official stated, "Through this employment project, we expect people with disabilities to become main agents of economic activity and to revitalize the local economy. We will continue our policy efforts to expand employment for people with disabilities and to support the recovery of the local economy."
