10% Cashback per Person · Payment Limit Increased to 700,000 KRW, Maximum 70,000 KRW
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province will increase the individual cashback rate from 7% to 10% and raise the payment limit to 700,000 KRW per month during the special point period in January (7th to 31st).
This year, the cashback rate for the Yangsan Sarang Gift Certificate is set at 10% during holiday months and 7% during regular months, with a monthly purchase limit of 500,000 KRW per person. However, for the month of January only, the cashback rate will be increased to 10%, and the payment limit will be raised from 500,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW.
This special event aims to alleviate the economic burden on citizens and promote local price stability and economic revitalization by encouraging domestic consumption through increased cashback on the Yangsan Sarang Gift Certificate in January, a month expected to see high spending during the Lunar New Year holiday, amid ongoing regional economic downturn and reduced consumption due to political uncertainty.
In addition, various consumption promotion events will be held throughout January, including offering 5,000 KRW discount coupons on the Baedal Yangsan, Yangsan Jangbogi, and Yangsan Mall platforms operated within the Yangsan Sarang Gift Certificate app.
The total issuance scale of the Yangsan Sarang Gift Certificate in 2025 is projected to be 180 billion KRW. As of 2024, the issuance amount was 186.7 billion KRW, with a redemption amount of 184.2 billion KRW, achieving a redemption rate of 99%. This indicates that most of the money recharged onto the Yangsan Sarang Card by citizens is being used, significantly contributing to increased sales for small businesses in local alley markets and supporting a virtuous cycle in the regional economy.
A Yangsan City official stated, “In the ongoing difficult economic situation, we judged that activating the Yangsan Sarang Gift Certificate is the fastest and most direct way the city can help recover domestic consumption, so we have temporarily increased the cashback rate. We plan to monitor the economic recovery trend and consider further expansion if necessary. We hope Yangsan citizens enjoy wise consumption with the increased cashback and various discount coupons, and we kindly ask that they spend as much as possible within the local area.”
