It depends on Trevor Immelman (South Africa), the 2008 Masters champion. The World Golf Ranking (WGR) board announced on the 7th (local time) that "Immelman has been appointed as the new chairman starting his term in April this year." The current chairman, Peter Dawson (England), has served as the World Golf Ranking chairman since 2016.

Immelman was born in 1979. He has two PGA Tour wins, including the 2008 Masters. He also has four DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) wins and five Sunshine Tour wins in South Africa. His world ranking rose to 12th in 2006. He served as the captain of the International Team at the 2022 Presidents Cup. Currently, he is a commentator for CBS Sports in the United States.

The World Golf Ranking was established in 1986. It calculates the rankings of male golfers worldwide. More than 20 tours around the world are included. Starting this year, the Taiwan Tour will also be awarded World Golf Ranking points. However, LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabian capital, is not given ranking points. This is why the world rankings of major champions playing in LIV Golf, such as Jon Rahm (Spain), Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka (both USA), are declining.
