According to Gyeonggi Province on the 8th, eligible recipients include ▲those whose foreign registration card specifies ‘spouse of a national’ or residence status F-6-1, F-6-2, F-6-3 ▲marriage immigrants under Article 2, Clause 2 of the Multicultural Families Support Act or those who can prove naturalization approval ▲and for those who have acquired nationality, individuals who can be verified through resident registration cards and family relation certificates.

The postage discount benefit is available at all post offices located in Gyeonggi Province, but is restricted in cases of large-volume shipments for commercial purposes. Applicants can prepare the relevant documents and easily apply at the post office either in person or through a proxy.

Detailed information on the application method and required documents can be obtained through the post office website and telephone consultation.

As of 2024, the multicultural family population in Gyeonggi Province is approximately 358,000, an increase of about 15,000 compared to 2023. Last year, Gyeonggi Province supported postage discounts totaling about 19 million KRW for approximately 3,000 international express shipments, with an average discount of about 6,600 KRW per case.

The province plans to discuss with the Gyeongin Regional Post Office the possibility of expanding support recipients to include foreigners and international students in the future.

Kim Won-gyu, Director of the Immigration and Social Affairs Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, “We will make this a model case of cooperation between local governments and public institutions to improve the quality of life for multicultural families,” adding, “We will discover various support projects to provide practical benefits to multicultural families and lay the foundation for social integration.”
