South Korea Has More 84-Year-Old Seniors Than 1-Year-Old Babies, Adds Explanation
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, posted a warning about South Korea's low birthrate on social networking service (SNS). He also recently posted about South Korea's state of emergency and the subsequent impeachment crisis on SNS.
On the 6th (local time), Musk shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account featuring a population distribution graph of South Korea, stating "It‘s over" and adding "Population collapse."
The graph shows South Korea's population distribution by age group as of the end of 2023. It is a "jar-shaped" graph where the population aged 40 to 60 is larger than the population under 30. The post Musk shared includes the explanation, "South Korea has more 84-year-olds than 1-year-old babies." Musk has mentioned the issue of population collapse, one of his interests, in official settings, citing South Korea's low birthrate as an example. In 2022, he said, "South Korea and Hong Kong are experiencing the fastest population collapse in the world."
On the same day, Musk also shared a post related to South Korea's impeachment incident on X. He said, "Wild times in Korea!" and asked, "What is actually the crux of the issue?"
The post Musk shared concerns South Korea's High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HOCI) deciding to hand over an arrest warrant execution for President Yoon Suk-yeol to the police. It also mentions that support for President Yoon has recently increased. Additionally, a video of protests by supporters of President Yoon opposing the impeachment was attached.
On the 3rd, Musk replied "Wow" to a post containing a photo of protesters opposing President Yoon's arrest. On the 4th of last month, he shared a post about the South Korean National Assembly passing a resolution demanding the lifting of the state of emergency, commenting "Wow" and calling the state of emergency "shocking."
