This project provides free shredding of agricultural residues for vulnerable farmers until March 31. The city has received 105 million KRW in support from the Rural Development Administration and the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services.

The target areas include ▲farmland within 100 meters adjacent to forests ▲elderly farmers ▲female farmers ▲small-scale farms, and applications can be made at the administrative welfare centers of each town, township, and neighborhood.

To improve work efficiency, the city has organized two mobile village agricultural residue shredding support teams and divided the 12 towns, townships, and neighborhoods within the jurisdiction into two zones to carry out the project.

The free shredding crops include ▲red pepper stalks ▲sesame stalks ▲perilla stalks ▲corn stalks, and in collaboration with the Yangju City Forestry Department, education on preventing illegal burning and promotional campaigns will also be conducted.

A Yangju City official said, “We urge the shredding workers to prioritize safety,” adding, “We plan to actively promote the agricultural residue shredding project to farmers through various media to prevent illegal burning of farmland and minimize fine dust generation, thereby contributing to creating a clean rural environment.”
