Snowfall of 5 to 15cm in Chungnam, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and other areas until the 9th
On Wednesday the 8th, heavy snow will continue in Honam and Chungnam regions, while the cold will intensify.
On the 7th, heavy snowfall accumulated up to 11 cm in Gochang and Buan, Jeonbuk, and up to 7.5 cm in Gwangju, with significant snow falling in Honam and Chungnam. Until night, snow or rain will continue in Honam and Chungnam, as well as in the Seoul metropolitan area excluding northern Gyeonggi, central and southern Chungbuk, inland western Gyeongsang, and Jeju, with light snow flurries in other regions.

On the 8th, snow or rain will fall in Chungnam, central and southern Chungbuk, Honam, inland Gyeongbuk, inland western Gyeongnam, and Jeju. Snow is also expected briefly in the early morning in southern Gyeonggi.
This precipitation is expected to continue until the 9th. Additional snowfall until the 9th is forecast as follows: 10?20 cm in Jeonbuk (with up to 30 cm or more on the west coast and southern inland of Jeonbuk), 5?20 cm on Ulleungdo and Dokdo, 5?15 cm in Chungnam, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeju mountain areas (with up to 20 cm or more in southern Chungnam west coast, Gwangju, northern Jeonnam, and Jeju mountain areas), 3?8 cm in Daejeon, Sejong, central and southern Chungbuk, inland western Gyeongnam, and mid-mountain areas of Jeju, 1?5 cm in the five western islands, around 1 cm in southern Gyeonggi, Daegu, inland Gyeongbuk, and Jeju coastal areas, and less than 1 cm in Seoul and Incheon. Heavy snow warnings have been issued for Honam and Jeju, with snowfall rates reaching 3?5 cm per hour in Honam and Jeju mountain areas. Chungnam will also experience heavy snowfall around 3 cm per hour.
The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Heavy snow warnings may be expanded," and advised, "Since a large amount of snow is expected over a long period, preparations should be made to prevent damage."
On the morning of the 8th, some parts of the Gangwon mountain area will experience temperatures below minus 15 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the central region, eastern Jeonbuk, and northern inland Gyeongbuk will see temperatures below minus 10 degrees Celsius, making it very cold. Daytime temperatures in the central region, eastern Jeonbuk, and northern inland Gyeongbuk will remain around 0 degrees Celsius. Nationwide, the lowest temperatures on the morning of the 8th are expected to range from minus 12 to 2 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperatures from minus 3 to 9 degrees Celsius. Compared to the 7th, morning temperatures will be slightly higher, but daytime temperatures will be lower.
Expected minimum and maximum temperatures in major cities are: Seoul and Incheon minus 5 and minus 1 degrees Celsius, Daejeon minus 4 and 2 degrees Celsius, Gwangju minus 1 and 4 degrees Celsius, Daegu minus 4 and 5 degrees Celsius, Ulsan minus 3 and 6 degrees Celsius, and Busan 0 and 8 degrees Celsius.
The cold wave will peak on the 9th. On the 9th, nationwide morning minimum temperatures will drop to between minus 17 and minus 5 degrees Celsius, and daytime maximum temperatures will only range from minus 8 to 3 degrees Celsius.
Strong winds will intensify the cold, with instantaneous wind speeds reaching 70 km/h (90 km/h in mountainous areas) along the coasts and Jeju, and around 55 km/h in other regions. The seas are also rough, with most marine areas under storm warnings. The East Sea central offshore area will experience winds until the night of the 9th, and other marine areas will have winds of 30?65 km/h and waves 1.5?4.0 meters high until the 10th. The southern offshore area of the West Sea, the outer central offshore area of the East Sea, and the northern outer southern offshore area of the East Sea will see waves up to 5.0 meters high from the 9th, so extra caution is advised.
