Gyeonggi Yangju Fire Station (Chief Kwon Seon-wook) urged strict compliance with safety rules to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning accidents at winter campsites.
According to statistics from the National Fire Agency on the 7th, there have been 173 fires at campsites over the past three years, with the main causes identified as ▲electrical factors ▲neglect of ember management ▲mechanical factors.
In particular, during winter, the risk of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning accidents significantly increases due to the increased use of heating devices and cooking facilities.
Using charcoal or gas stoves inside enclosed tents greatly increases the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Symptoms of poisoning include headaches, dizziness, and vomiting, and in severe cases, it can threaten life, requiring special caution.
Accordingly, Yangju Fire Station provided the following campsite safety rules: △prohibition of heating and cooking facilities inside tents △installation of carbon monoxide detectors △maintaining ventilation when using heating devices △keeping flammable materials at least 1 meter away from stoves △complete removal of embers △placement of fire extinguishers.
Chief Kwon Seon-wook emphasized, “Camping must be based on safety to truly be leisure,” and added, “We hope everyone strictly follows safety rules to enjoy a warm and safe winter camping with their families.”
