Artist United announced on the 7th that it has decided to collaborate with Perplexity AI, Inc., a US-based AI-powered search engine company, to develop AI-based services for the advertising, marketing, commerce, and entertainment industries.
This collaboration began last September when Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas visited Korea and signed a memorandum of understanding. Lee Jung-jae, the largest shareholder and key director of Artist United, also met with CEO Srinivas to discuss cooperation plans, and after about three months of negotiations, the partnership was finalized.
Through this partnership, Artist United plans to introduce innovative services such as personalized marketing messages, customized shopping experiences, and optimized content recommendations by leveraging Perplexity's technology. These new services will be implemented based on Perplexity's large-scale language models and Artist United's big data.
Perplexity is a leading company in the AI-based conversational search engine service sector, having seen a significant increase in users over the past year, currently answering over 100 million questions weekly. According to recent industry surveys, it operates the second most widely used general-purpose generative AI service after ChatGPT.
The company's service is characterized by providing rapid answers based on the latest information along with sources, which has made it very popular among university students and office workers. The Pro version offers the ability to research multiple sources and summarize complex and detailed questions into a single answer. For example, if asked, "Please organize the major works of author Han Kang by title, release date, and summary," it provides the relevant information in a table format.
Meanwhile, founded in 2010, Artist United is a company that provides B2B online marketing and advertising solutions utilizing big data and AI technology. Recently, it has been expanding its business areas by actively engaging in distribution and production, aiming to become a global entertainment company.
