Naju Bitgaram Municipal Library is offering a special reading culture program for the winter vacation.
According to Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byungtae), four courses will be held as part of the "2025 Winter Vacation Program" from the 8th to February 11th.
This program is designed for students in grades 1 to 4 of elementary school and consists of four courses that combine reading and hands-on activities, including baking, ecological play, learning four-character idioms, and book discussion.
First, "Welcome to Italian Bread for the First Time?" is a program held over six sessions, where children experience making the traditional Italian bread Pandoro. Children will read picture books for inspiration and make Pandoro themselves, providing a special opportunity to foster creative thinking and connect reading with food culture.
"Ecological Play with Picture Books" is themed around winter ecology and consists of physical activities and crafts using natural materials.
This course is divided into two groups: one for grades 1-2 and another for grades 3-4. It offers children the chance to experience seasonal changes and appreciate the value of nature.
Other notable programs include "Four-Character Idioms Delivered by Picture Books," where students learn four-character idioms through picture books, and "BookTalk! Book Talk! Reading Discussion," which teaches book discussion techniques.
All courses are free for members of the Naju Municipal Library. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis via the Naju Lifelong Learning Information Center website until the 10th. Each course is limited to about 15 participants.
A Naju City official stated, "This winter vacation program is designed to give children meaningful time through various experiences linked to books."
Detailed information about the program can be found in the announcements on the Naju Municipal Library website.
