"Generative AI App Usage Time Increased 8 Times in One Year... ChatGPT Ranks First"

Last month, the usage time of generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications (apps) in South Korea increased more than eightfold compared to a year ago.

According to WiseApp, Retail, and Goods, an app and retail analysis service, the number of ChatGPT users in South Korea reached 6.82 million last month, making it the most used generative AI app among domestic smartphone users.

SK Telecom's A. Dot ranked second with 2.45 million users. Rytan (2.32 million), Perplexity (590,000), Microsoft Copilot (310,000), and Claude (120,000) followed.

Last month, both the number of ChatGPT users and usage time reached record highs. Rytan, Perplexity, and Claude also recorded their highest figures ever.

The total usage time of these six apps in South Korea reached 900 million minutes, more than eight times the 110 million minutes recorded in the same period last year, marking an all-time high.

Until August last year, this figure was only 300 million minutes, but it increased by about 100 million minutes each month, reaching 440 million minutes in September, 530 million minutes in October, and 670 million minutes in November.
