Recently, a dry weather advisory (warning) was issued in the province, raising the risk of wildfires and requiring careful attention to wildfire prevention.
Accordingly, Yangsan City increased the number of specialized wildfire prevention and suppression personnel and wildfire watchers from 144 to 149, and established a three-dimensional surveillance network using 23 surveillance cameras and 8 lookout posts. They also deployed one leased wildfire suppression helicopter and 10 wildfire suppression vehicles in advance, and set up a wildfire prevention and initial suppression response system using thermal imaging detection drones to prevent re-ignition.
In addition, they have strengthened intensive crackdowns on burning activities during vulnerable times around sunset, and operate a rapid standby team of wildfire suppression personnel for initial nighttime wildfire response.
Deputy Governor Park Myung-gyun expressed his gratitude to the suppression personnel and related parties working hard on wildfire prevention and response, saying, “I appreciate the efforts of the suppression personnel and all involved in wildfire prevention and response. Please ensure personal safety equipment is worn during suppression and carry out firefighting under a command system that guarantees safety to prevent any safety accidents.”
