On the morning of the 6th (local time), Cho Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, announced the strategic partnership with MS at the ‘LG World Premiere’ held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA, and stated that they will join forces to develop and advance AI agents.

Previously, LG Electronics applied MS’s voice recognition and speech synthesis technologies to its mobile AI home hub (project name: Q9) to facilitate smoother communication with customers. Now, they plan to develop AI agents that can predict customers’ needs and preferences. These AI agents will be utilized in various spaces ranging from homes to vehicles, hotels, and offices.

CEO Cho emphasized, "Empathy intelligence, which considers and empathizes with customers, is now evolving into a technology that seamlessly connects multiple physical spaces and virtual environments to provide a holistic experience. The comprehensive experience where products and services are smoothly connected across various everyday spaces is the distinctive customer value that empathy intelligence can offer and what differentiates it from other AI technologies."

Judson Althoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer (CCO) of MS, who attended the event, said, "We will create innovative experiences for a better life beyond simple technological collaboration with LG Electronics." Althoff also revealed plans for collaboration in the rapidly growing ‘AI data center’ sector amid the global AI boom. LG Electronics possesses large-scale cooling technology called ‘Chiller’ and solutions for AI data centers, enabling them to handle thermal management and other challenges in MS’s next-generation AI data centers.

At the event, various companies besides LG Electronics also expressed their willingness to collaborate. SK Group is closely cooperating, with its affiliate SK Hynix supplying large quantities of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in Nvidia’s next-generation AI chips.

Recently, it was reported that at the special request of CEO Hwang, SK Hynix advanced the supply schedule of the 6th generation HBM, HBM4, by six months from the original plan. SK Hynix is expected to showcase its AI memory technology at CES 2025 by exhibiting samples of the 16-layer 5th generation HBM, HBM3E. Accordingly, there is a possibility that CEO Hwang will visit SK Hynix’s exhibition booth to personally inspect the HBM products.

Hyundai Mobis is expected to unveil the ‘Holographic Windshield Display,’ jointly developed with Germany’s ZEISS, for the first time at CES 2025. The Holographic Windshield Display is a technology that uses the vehicle’s front windshield as a transparent display, allowing the driver to check various driving information. It also features infotainment functions such as videos and games. The results of cooperation among Korean companies are expected to attract the attention of visitors.

Samsung Electronics will also showcase the ‘Vehicle SmartThings,’ developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group. The ‘Vehicle SmartThings’ focuses on providing convenience to drivers by connecting all devices inside the vehicle through Samsung Electronics’ flagship technology, ‘SmartThings.’
