Gwangju and Jeonnam will experience heavy snowfall in various areas along with a strong cold wave.
From the 7th for three days, Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to face severe cold and heavy snow until the 9th, marking the coldest weather of this winter so far. The expected snowfall from this day is 3 to 10 cm, with some areas receiving more than 15 cm. The expected precipitation is around 5 to 10 mm.
The morning's lowest temperatures are forecasted as follows: Gokseong -5°C, Damyang, Gurye, Hwasun, Boseong, Yeongam -4°C, Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Suncheon, Naju, Jangheung -3°C, Gwangju, Hampyeong, Muan, Gwangyang, Gangjin, Goheung, Haenam -2°C, Yeosu -1°C, Mokpo, Jindo, Wando 0°C, and Shinan 1°C.
The highest daytime temperatures will be: Wando, Goheung 7°C, Shinan, Yeongam, Jangheung, Haenam, Jindo, Gangjin, Suncheon, Gwangyang, Yeosu 6°C, Hampyeong, Muan, Naju, Mokpo 5°C, Gwangju, Jangseong, Yeonggwang, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Boseong 4°C, showing a lower range than the previous day.
Waves in the sea are expected to reach 1.5 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea and 1 to 2 meters in the South Sea. Fine dust concentrations in both Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to remain at a 'good' level.
An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration said on the 6th, "In areas where rain or snow falls, visibility will be short, and icy roads or black ice may appear, so please secure a safe distance and drive slowly when operating vehicles."
