Imsil N Cheese Festival Selected as One of Korea's Top 3 Festivals

Awarded the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Prize

The ImsilN Cheese Festival, the representative festival of Imsil-gun, Jeollabuk-do, has been selected as one of the top three festivals in Korea. The county announced on the 6th that it was chosen as the "2024 Best Culture and Tourism Festival" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and received the Minister's Award.

Only three festivals were selected as the best this time: the ImsilN Cheese Festival, the Goryeong Daegaya Festival, and the Busan International Rock Festival.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism evaluated a total of 65 festivals, including 25 culture and tourism festivals, 20 honorary culture and tourism festivals, and 20 preliminary festivals. The evaluation covered comprehensive aspects of the festivals, such as festival recognition, increase in floating population, and total consumption growth rate.

The ImsilN Cheese Festival, held in the cheese capital of Korea and themed around Korea's first cheese, ImsilN Cheese, was highly recognized for its contribution to revitalizing domestic tourism through its unique content and well-organized event management. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the ImsilN Cheese Festival was held from October 3 to 6 last year, attracting about 580,000 visitors nationwide during the festival period. It achieved direct sales of 2.45 billion won, setting a new record and once again proving the prestige of the "ImsilN Cheese Festival."

With 2025 designated as the Year of Visiting Imsil, this year's ImsilN Cheese Festival will be extended from the previous four days to five days and is scheduled to take place from October 8 to 12 at Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Imsil Cheese Village, and throughout Imsil-eup. The county plans to develop high-quality content in line with new trends to organize the program and, above all, will focus on ensuring safety to make it an enjoyable festival for all.

County Governor Shim Min said, "Thanks to the interest and love from people all over the country, the ImsilN Cheese Festival continues to achieve meaningful results and make constant growth and progress each year. I am grateful for this," adding, "Based on this selection, the ImsilN Cheese Festival is expected to play a leading role in ushering in the era of ten million visitors to Imsil by linking with major tourist attractions."
