Uljin-gun Actively Attracts 2025 Winter Training Camps

Winter Tourism Off-Season, Local Economy Blueprint Through Hosting Training Camps

Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is set to actively begin attracting winter training camps, marking the start of the 2025 Eulsanyeon Sports Renaissance.

By February, over 40 teams and around 1,000 athletes from five sports disciplines (soccer, volleyball, baseball, badminton, and athletics) will visit Uljin-gun, a young city known for its clear air with the lowest fine dust concentration nationwide, for training camps.

The training teams are expected to stay an average of about 10 days per team, generating approximately 1 billion KRW in spending at accommodations, restaurants, and other local businesses, bringing a boost to the regional economy, according to the county.

Based on extensive experience hosting national competitions and managing training camps, Uljin-gun plans to enhance the satisfaction and revisit rate of training teams by offering various incentives such as training support funds based on the length of stay, free use of public sports facilities, discount coupons for major local tourist attractions, and operation and support of stove leagues for sports like soccer and baseball.

County Governor Son Byung-bok stated, “The relative geographic limitations are being addressed by the opening of the Donghae Jungbu Line, improving accessibility, and we expect teams from across the country to visit Uljin.”

He added, “Based on abundant sports infrastructure, we will spare no effort in providing active interest and support to ensure that teams from various sports can train without inconvenience.”

The county plans to actively pursue sports marketing to usher in a sports renaissance era by creating excellent sports infrastructure and hosting various nationwide sports competitions.
