Lee Jae-myung Warns Choi Sang-mok Over Suspected Security Office Support... "Must Hold Accountable for a Second Insurrection"

Speaking Out at the Upcoming Private General Meeting
Warning of Suspicions Related to Acting Chief Choi During the Execution of Yoon's Arrest Warrant

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, on the 6th regarding the non-execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol. Lee referred to Acting Prime Minister Choi as committing a 'second act of rebellion' and raised questions about his responsibility.

At the Democratic Party lawmakers' meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Lee said, "President Yoon tried to become a king by destroying the order of our community, but now he is on the path of a prisoner," and criticized, "Acting Prime Minister Choi, who is responsible for managing this situation, seems to be engaging in acts that destroy order rather than maintaining it."

Originally, the lawmakers' meeting was scheduled to proceed without public remarks, but the schedule was changed for Lee to make a public statement. This is interpreted as a de facto public warning to Acting Prime Minister Choi.

He pointed out, "The Security Office is resisting the execution of the arrest warrant lawfully issued by the court by mobilizing force and even armed personnel, and I doubt whether the responsible acting official is supporting rather than restraining this."

Specifically, Lee said, "If the Security Office is illegally obstructing the lawful execution of the warrant by the court, it is clearly an illegal act," adding, "They should be suspended or dismissed, but instead, there are reports that the police were asked to support the Security Office, and the police refused. Several requests have been made to the Security Office to guard, command, and refrain from illegal acts, but they have been ignored."

He continued, "Such actions are ultimately another act of rebellion aimed at pursuing private interests through the destruction of order," and said, "I seriously think we should strictly hold accountable the acting president for this act of destroying order, this second act of rebellion."
