Incheon City will provide 1.5 million KRW in postpartum care expenses to vulnerable mothers starting from the 3rd of next month.
The support targets mothers who have been registered residents in Incheon for more than 12 months and are currently residing there. Eligible groups include basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income brackets, persons with disabilities, North Korean defectors under protection, multicultural families with income below 65% of the median income, single-parent families, mothers with rare diseases, teenage couples, families with multiple births, and families with income below 60% of the median income.
Applications are accepted from families who gave birth after January 1 of this year, and applicants must complete the e-learning parent education provided by the Central Childcare Support Center. Mothers can apply themselves on the Government24 website from the 32nd week of pregnancy up to 90 days after childbirth.
The 1.5 million KRW postpartum care fund will be provided as 'Incheon e-eum' points, a local currency, and can be used for postpartum health management expenses such as postpartum care center fees, hospital bills, medicines, health supplements, yoga, and more for one year from the date of payment.
This project is part of Incheon City's low birthrate policy called the 'I Plus 100 Million Dream' initiative, reflecting strong public demand for postpartum care support. It enables mothers to selectively use various postpartum health management services, not limited to postpartum care centers.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We hope that the postpartum care support will help mothers recover healthily and alleviate the economic burden on families."
