Cost Reduction in 5 Projects Including Establishment of Ulsan Future Education Center
248 Creative Proposals by Experts Increase Facility Value
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) saved over 2.8 billion KRW in budget last year through Value Engineering (VE) reviews of the design for five projects, including the construction of the Ulsan Mirae Education Center.
By project, savings included over 1.4 billion KRW for the establishment of the Ulsan Mirae Education Center, over 300 million KRW for the reconstruction of the Namnok Elementary School teacher's building, over 900 million KRW for the new construction of Seosa Elementary School, over 200 million KRW for the new construction of Seosa Kindergarten, and approximately 50 million KRW for the reconstruction of the main building of Okseong Elementary School.
They also enhanced the value of the facilities by incorporating 248 creative proposals from experts in various fields. In particular, the use of the Deck Plate construction method in the Ulsan Mirae Education Center project saved 600 million KRW. The Deck Plate method is a construction technique that combines slabs and steel structures, replacing the traditional plywood formwork assembly method.
Value Engineering (VE) is a process in which experts from various fields participate from the early stages of construction projects to comprehensively review the economic efficiency and practical applicability of designs. This process improves facility functions and quality while reducing construction costs.
