Specifically, for wildfire prevention measures, a total of 29.7 billion KRW will be invested, including ▲ 10 billion KRW for leasing 20 wildfire suppression helicopters to minimize wildfire damage ▲ 15.7 billion KRW for personnel expenses of 945 specialized wildfire prevention and suppression personnel ▲ 1.2 billion KRW for purchasing wildfire suppression and command vehicles and personal suppression equipment, and ▲ 2.8 billion KRW for wildfire prevention education and training.

For landslide prevention, a budget of 18.9 billion KRW will be allocated to prevent landslide damage caused by typhoons, heavy rainfalls, and other wind and water disasters. This year, 60 check dams will be constructed in landslide-prone areas, and a field survey will be conducted on 732 locations within the province that are at risk of landslides.

In addition, by the end of June, before the rainy season, measures to minimize landslide damage will be swiftly completed, including 11 km of stream conservation to slow water flow, 5 hectares of mountain erosion control, and management of 16 check dams.

Seok Yong-hwan, Director of the Forest and Greenery Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “Due to abnormal weather caused by climate change, wildfires are occurring year-round and becoming larger even outside the designated wildfire caution period, and the risk of landslides is high due to localized heavy rains during the rainy season. We will thoroughly respond in advance to prevent forest disasters such as wildfires and landslides within the province.”
