Acting President Choi made this request on the same day, stating, "Under difficult circumstances, it is absolutely unacceptable for public officials performing their duties to be injured," according to a press release from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance's spokesperson office. Although Acting President Choi did not mention specifics, it appears he was referring to the physical clashes that occurred on the 4th between the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the police during a rally calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

Earlier, an internet post claimed that a police officer assaulted by a member of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions had fallen into a coma. However, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions stated, "This is a clear fake news and a malicious slander against the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions," adding, "We will take legal action against the police who spread false information and those who distribute fake news and incite others." The police reportedly clarified that the officer was not unconscious and was in a stable condition.
