Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience a cold wave this week, with morning temperatures dropping to as low as -7 degrees Celsius. Most areas are forecast to receive 1 to 5 cm of snow.


In particular, the severe cold starting from the 7th, accompanied by heavy snow, is expected to continue until the 9th, bringing the coldest weather of this winter so far.


On the 6th, Gwangju and Jeonnam regions will be mostly cloudy with occasional rain. The expected precipitation is 5mm, and about 1cm of snow is expected in the eastern inland areas of Jeonnam.


The morning low temperatures are expected to be 0 degrees in Boseong; 1 degree in Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Damyang, Naju, Hwasun, Gurye, Suncheon, Yeongam, and Goheung; 2 degrees in Gwangju, Gwangyang, and Gangjin; 3 degrees in Muan, Hampyeong, Haenam; 4 degrees in Wando, Yeosu, and Jindo; 5 degrees in Mokpo; and 6 degrees in Shinan.


The daytime high temperatures are expected to be 9 degrees in Suncheon, Gwangyang, Yeosu, and Goheung; 8 degrees in Shinan, Jangheung, Gangjin, Jindo, Haenam, and Wando; 7 degrees in Gwangju, Naju, Muan, Yeongam, Boseong, and Gurye; and 6 degrees in Yeonggwang, Jangseong, Damyang, Gokseong, Hampyeong, Hwasun, and Mokpo, which is lower than the previous day.


Waves in the sea will range from 0.5 to 2 meters in the West Sea and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the South Sea. Fine dust concentrations in both Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to be 'temporarily bad' in the morning and return to 'normal' levels in the afternoon.


An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration said, "Strong winds with instantaneous speeds of around 55 km/h (15 m/s) may occur along the Jeonnam coast, so please pay attention to facility management and safety accidents."
