Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Other Japanese Brands All See Sales Increase
Positive Performance Recorded in the U.S. Market
On the 5th, Mainichi Shimbun reported that the new car sales of six Japanese automobile manufacturers in the United States in 2024 reached 5,882,438 units, a 6.2% increase compared to the previous year. This is analyzed as a positive achievement by Japanese automakers in the U.S. market.
According to the report, Toyota Motor Corporation, the world's number one in new car sales, recorded 2,332,623 units sold in the U.S. last year, a 3.7% increase from the previous year. Honda sold 1,423,857 units, up 8.8%, and Nissan Motor sold 924,008 units, up 2.8%. Sales of Subaru, Mazda, and Mitsubishi Motors also showed an upward trend.
The total new car sales in the U.S. in 2024 were estimated to be about 15.98 million units. Mainichi analyzed that there was strong demand centered on hybrid vehicles in the U.S. market and pointed to the increased demand for fuel-efficient vehicles, including hybrid cars, as the main reason Japanese automakers increased their sales volume.
