Police Send Second Attendance Request to Security Office Chief for 'Non-Appearance'

Attendance Deadline: 7 Days at 10 AM

The police emergency martial law special investigation unit has sent a second summons to Park Jong-jun, the head of the Presidential Security Service, who failed to comply with the initial summons. Park is suspected of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant against President Yoon Seok-yeol (special obstruction of official duties).

On the 4th, the special investigation unit announced through a press release that the second summons was sent to Park Jong-jun, requiring him to appear by 10 a.m. on the 7th, and to Kim Seong-hoon, deputy head of the Presidential Security Service, requiring him to appear by 10 a.m. on the 8th. It was also revealed that both individuals did not respond to the summons on that day.

The police had filed charges against Park and Deputy Kim the previous day for obstructing the execution of the arrest warrant against President Yoon Seok-yeol (special obstruction of official duties). Earlier, the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (Gong-su-cheo), which is investigating President Yoon for charges of rebellion and abuse of power related to the December 3 emergency martial law incident, attempted to arrest the president. However, the Presidential Security Service and others did not comply, resulting in the failure to execute the warrant.

Previously, the Security Service stated in a press release that "this is currently a critical period concerning presidential security duties, and the head and deputy head of the Security Service cannot leave their posts even for a moment." The Security Service added, "We are in consultation with the police to respond to the investigation at a possible future time."
