The district initially set up the joint memorial altar on the lawn in front of Seongbuk-gu Office to mourn the victims and provide convenience for residents to pay their respects, planning to operate it until the 4th. However, due to many residents visiting the altar, the period has been extended until the 7th. During the extended period, the altar will be open from 8 AM to 7 PM.
District Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “Many residents I met on site expressed their condolences for the victims and suggested extending the operation of the joint memorial altar to offer comfort to the bereaved families, which led to this decision.”
The district also operates the ‘Seongbuk-gu Cyber Memorial Space’ on its official website for citizens who cannot visit in person. The cyber memorial space will also be extended until the 7th. Anyone can participate in the Seongbuk-gu Cyber Memorial Space.
