Passenger Plane from Hong Kong to Busan Returns and Lands Due to Instrument Error

Safe Landing After Delay at Gimhae International Airport on the Morning of the 3rd

An Air Busan passenger plane departing from Hong Kong and scheduled to arrive at Busan Gimhae International Airport made a go-around once due to an instrument error related to the landing gear before landing.

Yonhap News confirmed with the airline and reported that at around 6:20 a.m. on the 3rd, Air Busan flight BX392 from Hong Kong attempted to land at Gimhae International Airport but performed a go-around (climbing again without landing) due to an instrument issue. The aircraft decided to go around because it could not confirm whether the landing gear, the plane’s wheels, was properly deployed due to an instrument error. After visually confirming no abnormalities through the control tower, the aircraft landed on the airport runway.

An Air Busan official explained to Yonhap News, "During the landing attempt, the landing gear was functioning normally, but there was a time difference between the left and right indicators on the instrument panel that shows whether the landing gear is operating properly. Since there was an accident involving a Muan Jeju Air passenger plane, the captain decided to go around to clearly confirm the situation."

There were 112 passengers on board this flight. The aircraft arrived at 6:32 a.m., 12 minutes later than originally scheduled. The aircraft model is known to be an Airbus A321-200. Air Busan operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, all Airbus models, and does not operate Boeing aircraft. Air Busan replaced the aircraft with another plane for the subsequent flight schedule and the aircraft underwent inspection.

An Air Busan official stated, "It is presumed to be a temporary error of the system sensor connected to the instrument, but additional inspections will be conducted for thorough verification," and added, "The aircraft will be redeployed after a thorough inspection."
