Hyundai Economic Research Institute Wins Two Awards at K-Digital Training Hackathon Provided by Hyundai Research Institute

Hyundai Research Institute, an affiliate of Hyundai Group, announced on the 3rd that it simultaneously won the Minister of Employment and Labor Award and the President of the Korea Institute for Vocational Education and Training Award at the 6th 2024 K-Digital Training Hackathon, hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and organized by the Korea University of Technology and Education's Vocational Competency Assessment Institute.


Hyundai Research Institute operates a big data expert training program in collaboration with LG Uplus and Samjong KPMG, aiming to nurture core talents in the domestic digital transformation (DX) field in 2024. A total of five teams from this training program advanced to the finals of the hackathon, and after two days of intense competition held from November 20, 2024, four teams reached the final round and all received awards. Regarding the awards, the teams "ShowMeTheBinggle" and "E-Do" received the prestigious Minister of Employment and Labor Award, while the teams "BabyOneMallTime" and "SeniorScape" received the President of the Korea Institute for Vocational Education and Training Award.


The trainees participating in this hackathon presented innovative ideas on the themes of digital transformation (DX) and big data. In particular, the award winners are trainees from the 2024 Hyundai Research Institute, LG Uplus Why not SW Camp 1st cohort, and Samjong KPMG Future Academy 1st cohort. Despite being the first year and first cohort since the start of the training, they achieved remarkable results in just four months.

A representative of Hyundai Research Institute said, "We were deeply impressed by the creative ideas of the participants who aimed to solve all services needed by society through data-centric approaches, and we sincerely thank the participants who worked day and night," adding, "We will continue to provide full support so that all trainees can grow into data experts."


Hyundai Research Institute has been operating a total of four cohorts of the LG Uplus Why not SW Camp and Samjong KPMG Future Academy since 2024, and is currently recruiting trainees with the goal of opening a new cohort (5th) training course in January 2025.
