Choi Sang-mok Acting Authority Meets with U.S. Ambassador to Korea and U.S. Military Commander: "Diplomacy and Security Will Be Pursued Without Disruption"

Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Strategy and Finance, stated on the 3rd, "Even in difficult circumstances, we will steadfastly pursue our diplomatic and security policies based on the strong ROK-US alliance."

On the same day in the afternoon, Acting President Choi held a joint meeting with Philip Goldberg, the US Ambassador to Korea, and Jay B. Brunson, Commander of US Forces Korea, urging mutual active cooperation to ensure continued diplomatic achievements such as ROK-US and ROK-US-Japan cooperation.


Ambassador Goldberg and Commander Brunson reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for Korea's democracy and the strong ROK-US alliance, as well as the US commitment to Korea's defense. They also pledged to make every effort and provide full support to ensure that the ROK-US alliance, which has lasted over 70 years, continues to develop in the future.


Acting President Choi expressed gratitude for Ambassador Goldberg's efforts in contributing to the development of the ROK-US alliance over the past two years and five months, and requested his continued support for the alliance after his retirement. He also congratulated Commander Brunson on his appointment and urged him to play an important role in advancing the ROK-US alliance.


Ambassador Goldberg said, "I will continue to remain a supporter of the ROK-US alliance." Commander Brunson also stated, "I will fulfill my duties to ensure that the ROK-US alliance protects peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region."
