Suseong Webtoon, Promotion of Video Content Production Based on Webtoon Originals

Suseong Webtoon stated on the 3rd that the success of movies or dramas based on webtoons is a major factor driving the purchase of webtoon originals.

Suseong Webtoon's subsidiary, Toomics, has a track record of producing dramas based on webtoons such as 'Taekbae Gisa' (Delivery Man), 'Gasiriitgo', and 'Rugal'. This year, they are preparing to produce various webtoons into video content, including 'Actor Detective Han Mu-yul'.

Suseong Webtoon's Webtoon IP division supplies various works such as 'Dalbit Howling', 'How to Live as Max Level', and 'Contract of the Demon Tribe' to leading domestic and international webtoon platforms. Toomics Global is finalizing the acquisition of webtoon production company Terafinn for 29 billion KRW this month. They plan to further strengthen webtoon content production and distribution.

Toomics offers a $7 subscription plan and supplies webtoons in a total of 11 languages worldwide. Last year, it recorded sales of 60 billion KRW and an operating profit of 11.5 billion KRW. A Suseong Webtoon official said, "As interest and attention to K-webtoons gradually increase, we expect a reevaluation of the webtoon industry this year."

Suseong Webtoon recently conducted a survey through the mobile survey platform Kratos. Among respondents, 62.6% confirmed that they had purchased the original webtoon after watching secondary works such as movies and dramas based on webtoons.

When asked about the criteria for selecting a platform when using webtoons, 46.8% answered "variety of genres." This was followed by ▲number of works (24.5%) ▲payment amount per episode (23.1%) ▲user interface (UI) design (5.6%) in order of platform selection. The survey was conducted over three days from December 24 to 26 last year, targeting 1,000 domestic consumers.
