Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 3rd that it will showcase a landscape design harmonizing nature and art by French sculptor master Xavier Veilhan at 'Hannam District 4' in Bogwang-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the contractor for Hannam District 4 and is building 'The H Han River' there.
Xavier Veilhan is a leading French sculptor who has held solo exhibitions at world-renowned art museums such as the Pompidou Center in France, the Palace of Versailles, and Heartfield in the UK. His work in Korea is well known through 'The Great Mobiles' at Incheon Airport Terminal 2.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction will install Xavier's work 'Golden Carriage (a carriage running on water)' in the central plaza at the heart of the complex. This piece inherits the artistic sensibility of the 'Carriage' exhibited at the Palace of Versailles and is expected to become a symbolic artwork unique to Hannam District 4.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction will also create various themed spaces. Utilizing a 5-meter elevation difference, they will build the 'Grand Water Terrace,' where terraced waterways and gardens harmonize within the complex. Residents can enjoy the tranquility of nature during the day and an atmosphere blended with lighting at night.
Residents will also have access to the 'Infinity River Lounge,' which offers views of the Han River. This space features an old tree floating on water as a piece of art. Additionally, Hyundai Engineering & Construction will create the 'Honors Lounge,' the vehicle and pedestrian entrance, featuring a majestic tree symbolizing the complex and water features, as well as a water space called 'Crystal Lake.'
Hyundai Engineering & Construction will build a 2.6 km circular walking trail within the complex where over 130 species of trees can be seen. In particular, 19 outdoor elevators and 9 escalators will be installed between buildings to enhance pedestrian convenience.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has previously supplied high-end complexes where residents can enjoy artworks by world-renowned artists such as Karel Martens from the Netherlands, Anthony Brown from the UK, and Shinta Tantra from the UK.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering & Construction has won 11 awards over the past three years from the world's top three design awards: 'Red Dot,' 'IF,' and 'IDEA.' In October last year, it also received the Presidential Award for the first time in an urban renewal project at the Korea Landscape Awards.
